How do i find my pup distance for glasses?
The simple answer to finding your PD or Pupillary Distance is just to measure the distance between the center of your eyes. Your PD is the distance between the center of your eyes. This is one of the most important measurements when being fitted for glasses. If the glasses are not centered with your pupils then your eye sight will be distorted. This could cause a lot of difficulties in the long run.
Measuring distance might sound easy enough but you would be surprised to find out just how hard it is.
There are actually several different ways to go about it. Some great websites offer extensive step by step guides and there are also some great apps for your phone that you can download. Scroll down this list of websites and apps to find out what works best for you.

Can I measure my pd on my phone?
Here are 3 apps that you can use if you don't have access to a laptop or computer. These are also great if you don’t want to upload a picture to your computer or print out a ruler.
PDCheck
This app will capture your pupillary distance instantly and securely in the EyeQue database. This helps with the EyeQue website and gives them the information they need to help you find the best glasses for you.
You can obtain the results by registering your information with them. The results will include your PD from a distance and near PD for reading.
PD Meter
This app by GlassifyMe is for those people that don't want to register their information. All you will need to do is simply download the app and take selfie. This do it yourself app will give you the measurement right on the screen.
There is actually a little step that also helps out a lot. By simply using a card such as a gift card or any other card in your selfie. Just press it against your lips and make sure it is horizontal. this helps with accuracy. Then simply take a selfie with the app and it will walk you through the rest.
Glasses On
The apps mentioned above work on both Android and iPhone. But if you want an app that works on for Android only (at the time of writing this article), then you will want to download Glasses On. This app helps you find your exact measurement. You will also need a plastic card and take a selfie for this app as well.
Eye Measure
For iPhone users that want to measure their PD there is an app called Eye Measure. This app will work the same as Glasses on for Android. All you need to do is to take a selfie and the app will do the rest. Simply follow the steps on screen and you will be on your way to finding out how far apart your pupils are.
How can I Find my PD Without a Website or App?
If you don’t want to use a website or a phone app then you can still do it all by yourself. All you really need is a friend to help you with a ruler. make sure you look straight ahead about 7 to 10 feet in front of you. This will keep your pupils at their natural state and you will be able to get a good measurement.
You will be tempted to look at the person helping you but you must keep your eyes looking straight ahead. You can keep your eyes open. All they would need to do is place the start of a ruler above the center of one of your eyes and measure the distance to the center of the other eye.
If you want to do all of this yourself then simply stand in front of a mirror and close one eye. This will prevent any visual overlap. Place the ruler above the center of the open eye. Then you can open the other eye and check the distance.
It is much more accurate to use an app, because you can test it out several times and you don’t need to close your eyes.
Don’t take our word for it. Check out all of the websites we suggested and a few of the apps. Let us know what you think of them.
